passion for teaching and build our toolbox of effective instructional practices.

will model and practice effective reading strategies and instructional practices to incorporate within secondary content classrooms
and explore how these approaches support student motivation and achievement for adolescent struggling readers. Together we
will explore new paths to engagement in reading.

Brief Narrative Description: Participants will explore key components of an effective and meaningful learning plan, ways
to generate literacy practices, literacy strategies to motivate struggling adolescent readers, as well as model and practice
a content focused learning plan utilizing multiple literacy practices to boost vocabulary and text comprehension. Study the
"nature of the reading process" as we work toward creating thoughtful, strategic and metacogitive adolescent readers.
